Good Luck! I would suggest that you make some creative labels with your own special Name for them along with a picture of some happy dogs & cats and put them on some very small zip-closable baggies. This will make an inexpensive test for you. Take them to the all the pet stores and dog groomers and so on. Ask them to hand them out. Also leave a small Opinion & Comment Card at each location. When you come back in a week, these Cards will give you some feedback and you will start to get a good idea of the level of reception that the Treats are receiving. Additionally, you could personally hand them out at weekend Fairs and Farmers Markets. Sounds like you will do well.

These Liver Treats are amazing. Watch out when you make them as your dog may suddenly learn how to counter-surf!

1lb liver pureed
1 egg
small can pumpkin if desired
as much garlic as you like
2 cups flour (can use wheat or I have used 1/2 oatmeal 1/2 flour)
teaspoon baking soda and flour because I don’t know which makes it rise. If you want them flat than don’t add.

Mix all ingredients together. The batter should be thick like brownie. (Falls off a spoon, but slowly.) Place in greased pan and cook 350 for 30 minutes. If you make mini muffins cook for only 20 minutes and if you make a cake check to make sure it is cooked in center. Large muffins seem to be good at 30 minutes.

I take a chicken and some liver and put it in a roaster with some water..then I bake it about 6 hours.the liver is diced into tiny bits.all the meat from the chicken is taken off the bones and the bones put back in the water from the roaster and add more water and bring to a boil..then add white or wild rice to the boiling water and cook til tender. I usually add a pinch of garlic powder a bit of salt some veggies like peas and carrots . Cool everything completely. Strain the chicken broth through a very fine strainer…then I add a bit of oatmeal just to bind it all..then put in freezer bags by portions and freeze..each night I take out what I need for next day and let it thaw ina sink of cool water…this is a good method because if the dog catches a chill you can warm it up and he will appreciate it..

I used whole wheat flour but you can use whatever. Apple Cinnamon makes me think of the fall/winter so they would be appropriate. I have seen the device you are talking about a couple of days a go and it is still in the experimental stages. I do not have an opinion on them yet because they have not been tried. The concept is the same as the electric collar that I have been using for 20 years and works great with all dogs. The collar you refer to is also an E collar, with a radion in it that has programmed commands. I do not think it will be a big hit since it is not you talking. The dog must still learn and be proofed before you do anything else with it. Proofing requires corrections. Once the dog knows a command he should be able to do it regardless of where he is in relation to you. That does not mean that you are at work and the dog is at home. You must both be in the same general vicinity.

I have a Pro 500, but just a one dog setup, also have a Sport 50. Both have been very reliable. To be honest I don’t think there is any difference in the quality level between Dogtra and tri-Tronics. They are both good, it’s just a matter of which features you think you will use the most that will determine which transmitter fits your needs best.
You might want to talk it over with Jim Dobbs http://www.dobbsdogs.com he was the rep for tri-Tronics for many years, and is also the person most responsible for bring Dogtra into prominence.

Wheat Free Scotty Biscuits

1 cup oatmeal
1 cup rye flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk

Combine oatmeal, 3/4 cup of the rye flour, sugar and butter together.
Slowly add the milk till a firm but slightly sticky dough forms. Scrape
out dough onto a wooden board or counter. Knead in the rest of the rye
flour till the dough stiffens a little. Wrap in saran wrap and chill for
one hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out dough till 1/4 inch thickness. Cut
into shapes ( I like to use scotty dog cutters). Place on lightly greased
cookie sheets.
Bake for 15 minutes. Turn off oven and let biscuits rest till cool in oven
with the door closed. Store in air-tight container for up to 2 weeks.

Wheat Free Tuna Biscuits

1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup oatmeal
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 can tuna in oil [small] — undrained
1/3 cup water

Grind oatmeal in processor til a coarse flour, put in a bowl. to processor
add tuna with the oil, and water , process til pureed, add all the rest of
ingredient. Pulse til mixture forms a ball, Pulse to knead for 2-3 minutes.
Turn out to floured board , knead if needed to soft dough. Roll out to a
1/8″-1/4″ thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on lightly greased cookie
sheet , at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely.

Bake for 45 minutes. Let cool overnight. Makes several dozen bones that freeze well–and have the consistency of pizza crusts, a favorite snack for most spoiled dogs!

would you consider a raw food diet? with homecooking, there is no way to get enough vitamin E, fiber or calcium (that’s all I know there may be more) without supplements. but a raw food diet is balanced if you follow the prey model diet.

you may also want to consider prednisone (discuss it with your vet the risks and benefits), if she is at her end-stage, because pred will help with pain and increase appetite.

you may also want to try homeopathy- it can help with pain and health without side effects.

Add: interesting, tramadol is not that strong for pain although it can be for serious injuries I guess your vet’s reasoning is fewer side effects than prednisone. but if it comes to more pain, I’d go with the pill with more side effects and give her less pain.

Chicken meal is the pure chicken with liquid removed. It’s much better to have meal as a first ingredient, than say, chicken which when dried is not the first ingredient anymore! Wheat is a big fat no no! I’ve heard good things about newman’s just make sure there’s no corn or wheat or glutens in any food you decide on.
EDIT: I just checked newman’s own. the first ingredient appears to be chicken, which when dried will move way down the ingredient chain. Then chick meal, fine…then about 5 or 6 grains…that’s kind of alot. If your’ pup has no allergy problem to it, I guess it would be fine.
