What is your dog’s nutritional requirement? What are you feeding your dog? Does this food satisfy your dogs requirement? These are some factors that should be first considered in buying your dog food. The first step is to determine what your dog needs then you should also know what is in the dog food and what will it give your dog. Not all dog food ingredients are useful and good to him. In order to increase the bulk, others even use ingredients that are harmful for your dog. So how would you know if the dog food you’re holding is good for your dog? I will give you a list of some dog food ingredients.

• Animal meat – the clean fresh meat of a slaughtered animal.
• Animal by-product – Any by-product means that it comes from a slaughtered or euthanized animal that is not good for human consumption. It may not be good in the sense that since it is euthanized, it can contain many chemicals that can be detrimental for your dog.
• Animal meal – is also the same as by product but this one has been processed. It could be boiled down, pulverized and was renamed as meal for animals.
• Artificial colourings, sweeteners and flavorants – These are the substances that makes the food appealing to your dog. They mask the smell and the true form of your dog’s food. Since these substances are not regulated, some of the stuffs that are use maybe harmful for your pet.
• Vitamin C – is the vitamin that is useful for normal metabolism.
• Biotin – an essential substance for growth and health of your pet.
• Yeast – This can cause allergic reaction to dogs.
• Corn bran – acts as an extender. Dogs will have a problem digesting this so it is not advisable to feed them large amounts of this substance.
• Copper – a trace mineral that enhances the absorption of iron.
• Peas and carrots – gives your dogs vitamins and minerals. It can also add flavour to your dog’s food.
• Gingko Biloba – It can be very useful for the older dogs because it improves blood flow which helps mental and memory functions.
• Probiotics – these are the heat-sensitive members of our normal flora. They can help the body digest foods.
• Sodium Bentonite – this is used as a binder for dog foods. It is said that this substance aids in the animal’s digestive system.
• Corn gluten – the residue from corn. This contains minute ampunts of protein however, it can cause allergic reactions to dogs.
• Rice Gluten – the dried residue from rice. For dogs that are allergic from corn gluten, this can be used as an alternative.

Preservatives in dog food

BHA/BHT, or Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) are chemical preservatives that is use to keep fats away from rancidity. This can result to dry skin, dental disease, kidney and liver destruction.

Ethoxyquin – Many suspect that this can cause cause cancer, liver, kidney and thyroid dysfunctions, reproductive failure. However there still no evidence found that this is true.

Tocopherols – Since they are natural, these preservatives are more advisable to use than other chemical preservatives. However, they have shorter shelf life.

It is important to note that some manufacturers practice splitting, they cover up other ingredients by dividing the content into categories, making it a smaller quantity, so they can list the meat first. This will make it seem that the dog foods contain many protein. Also, take note of the by-products as they can be very harmful for your dog.

Dog tricks?

My dog already knows the basic comands such as sit, down, stay, come, rollover, paw, high-5, died, leaving him, the heel, and wait. Since she is a dachshund, I can not teach your request and jumps back. As I teach her limp so that you can act hurt, but I do not know how. Distance

Getting close to your dog will fill the frame. Remember your dog has facial expressions that need to be captured.

Angle

Do not take the picture from above. Crouch down to dog level. This gives a more intimate view of your pet.

Color

Keep it simple. However, props can add interest. For example, introduce a favorite toy such as a ball.

Lighting

Easy – press auto. Take care as too much bright light can dim those exceptional features.

Patience

Getting the right pictures will take some patience. (Easy for a dog lover)

Lots

Be prepared to take lots of pictures. Try different angles, stances and behavior.

Fun

Have lots of it!

Do you think dogs are capable of love?

I know the answer seems obvious, but there was an article with quotes from a semi famous dog expert Jon Katz that was in the LA Times. He said dogs are like social parasites and they have evolved into being able to fool us into thinking they love us. It made me a little sad because I love my dog so much and he is so loving to me (maybe it’s a different sort of love but still love)..what are your thoughts?

Dogs “love” much the same way we do which is why we get along with dogs so well. We’re both social animals who form deeper bonds with some members of our packs/social groups than others…some so much that they’re beyond acquaintances….they’re friendships, that’s “love”.

They were from quite a few years ago when minivans first came out with two sliding doors, I believe. The took a bunch of weimaraners and dressed them up as a family in people clothes and wigs, etc.

Look at my picture …. Boston Terriers. Full grown can be anywhere from 13 pounds to 35. A good size range based upon the breeder. Good luck!

He looks like poodles I’v seen that have never been groomed, the pound didn’t clean him up , the SPCA or no kill would never leave him like that, poor little guy, bring him to the Vet first for a complete check up & shots and while there as if the Vet Tech will groom him, for the first time you want to have someone do it that will be careful, a puppy cut is cute, and I can see a beautiful little face behind that hair, love him, I’m glad you rescued him, I bet his ears are a mess inside with the hair like that, he is probably very uncomfortable, its like putting you fingers thru your hair when it has tangles in it, but don’t try to mess with his ears let the vet take care for the first time, if their sore he might nip and it won’t be his fault
