Dog Trainers : What do you think of a “radio receiver” dog collar ?
Will it work ? Will a dog respond to a command even of they dont see their owner ?

I have seen the device you are talking about a couple of days a go and it is still in the experimental stages. I do not have an opinion on them yet because they have not been tried. The concept is the same as the electric collar that I have been using for 20 years and works great with all dogs. The collar you refer to is also an E collar, with a radion in it that has programmed commands. I do not think it will be a big hit since it is not you talking. The dog must still learn and be proofed before you do anything else with it. Proofing requires corrections. Once the dog knows a command he should be able to do it regardless of where he is in relation to you. That does not mean that you are at work and the dog is at home. You must both be in the same general vicinity.

* Experienced e-collar trainers only * which 2 dog e-collar system?
I am looking for a 2 dog e-collar set up, I would like to move to more off leash yard work with both my dogs. One is very soft the other is a soft/medium dog who becomes a hard dog if she is fixated on a wild animal. I have experience with Dogtra but wanted to consider Tri-Tronics too but I’m somewhat unfamiliar with Tri-Tronics features. My friend who is an experienced gun dog trainer swears by Dogtra too. This is a significant investment so I want to keep my options open. The options I am considering are Dogtra 2302 NCP or the Tri-Tronics PRO 500 G3 EXP 2-dog. Is there a site that provides side by side comparisons of the different e-collar options? I plan on buying from Gun Dog Supply. E-collar bashers, who do not address the question will be ignored and reported for violating Q/A format.
The school I was an instructor for used Innotek for in class off leash work but I was kinda turned off by it. Maybe because it was an older set up, the control didn’t seem ergonomic and even a little cumbersome. It also didn’t feel like it have the flexibility I would like for my guys.
The Tri-tronics has the ability to control up to 5 dogs but I do not foresee ever needing more than 3.
oops, I guess the 500 can only control up to 3 collars. I found this [ http://www.gundogsupply.com/tri-tronics-picking-the-right-collar.html ]. I would still like input, experiences and a side by side comparison chart would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Pro 500, but just a one dog setup, also have a Sport 50. Both have been very reliable. To be honest I don’t think there is any difference in the quality level between Dogtra and tri-Tronics. They are both good, it’s just a matter of which features you think you will use the most that will determine which transmitter fits your needs best.
You might want to talk it over with Jim Dobbs http://www.dobbsdogs.com he was the rep for tri-Tronics for many years, and is also the person most responsible for bring Dogtra into prominence.
edit
I believe the trashbreaker is the only tt collar that will handle up to 6 dogs, and that collar is about the same features as my very old A1-80 collar.

Chris asks…
Would you ever use a shock, choke, or pinch collar on your dog?
I have been looking at how different trainers train dogs. Some use the harsh and painful looking shock collars. Others use choke or pinch collars. Some trainers refuse to use any of those collars. Would you ever use these collars on your dogs? Would you ever let a trainer use these collars?
