Mary asks…

Homemade dog food recipes?

Does anyone know of any homemade dog food recipes or a website with recipes for homemade dog food?

I don’t really want dog treat recipes, but dog food.

Thank you
I’m already familiar with raw feeding, and I feed my dogs raw food for treats, like chicken quarters and several different organs. I just was looking for some more complete meals, ones with more vitamins. Raw chicken is lacing in potassium and zinc.

I take a chicken and some liver and put it in a roaster with some water..then I bake it about 6 hours.the liver is diced into tiny bits.all the meat from the chicken is taken off the bones and the bones put back in the water from the roaster and add more water and bring to a boil..then add white or wild rice to the boiling water and cook til tender. I usually add a pinch of garlic powder a bit of salt some veggies like peas and carrots . Cool everything completely. Strain the chicken broth through a very fine strainer…then I add a bit of oatmeal just to bind it all..then put in freezer bags by portions and freeze..each night I take out what I need for next day and let it thaw ina sink of cool water…this is a good method because if the dog catches a chill you can warm it up and he will appreciate it..

Robert asks…

Homemade dog food? Anyone have good recipes?

Does anyone know of any dog treat recipes for my husky pups? I’ve read so much about the tainted food problem. Afraid to feed them the store-sold stuff…

admin answers:

You can try bestdogtraining.NET . They’ll email you recipes for free. I received mine and my pug “Reese’s” loved ‘em. They have some other stuff on their site too.
Good luck!

Susan asks…

Home-made dog treats? recipes, anyone …?

Just figured I would ask here if anyone has some favorite homemade dog treat recipes.
My family has alot of dogs in it and I want to do something for the holidays, but I’m on a bit of a budget this year so I thought of making the dogs some yummy homemade treats for their holiday gifts.

My dog would be the taste-tester to ensure he approves.

If you have any recipes that your dogs like, I’d be grateful for you to share (I have searched & found some online — I’m just looking for ones that come recommended).
Thank you.

I found this one online: http://www.all-natural-dog-treat.com/cinnamondogtreats.html and all the dogs I gave it to, including mine REALLY liked them. I used whole wheat flour but you can use whatever. :) Apple Cinnamon makes me think of the fall/winter so they would be appropriate. :) Maybe you could add plain yogurt or some cottage cheese as a ‘frosting’ on top of the cookies as well?
